Not since october, work is killing me right now. Im off today but its 20 degrees and the roads are a solid sheet of ice. Looking at the ten day forcast next wed looks to be in the upper 40s so may try to get out.

I haven't been out in a while...work mostly. Just got back from San Antonio at 2:00 am, and was thinking of fishing today, but I'm having trouble mustering up any motivation. Looking out my front window looks kind of windy. I'm feeling like a sissy today.

Haven't been in yak since Nov but I have been attempting trout fishing with no success thus far. What stream you heading to Ken? Mainly in NC. I will give a whirl in Va next week provided I due not get sick again. I plan to yak/wade Cripple Creek downstream of 94 and hopefully get away from all the spots the meat harvesters hit. The plan is to kayak down to the New, fish the big hole for Walleyes for an hour, and then flyfish/spinfish for trout upstream for 3.5 miles. This will be one of the most ambitious trips I have done. The most distance I have pulled a yak upriver to date is 3 miles. .................................................................................................... Suggestions, find out where browns are being stocked or streams that have streambreds. Throw Gold/Black or Yellow Perch F5 Rapalas in small streams and F7s in larger ones. 2.5-3" gulp minnows work well on jig heads. If a stream is loaded with caddis larvae, use the white trout magnets and learn to work those by watching Youtube vids. A #4 panther martin spinner with brass blade/barrel with the reddish spinfly dressing also works well for dumb stockers. The F7s will draw out the 16"-20" browns. If you are flyfishing I would be using a #6 bugger with an egg pattern trailer or perhaps a midge. Pheasant tail dropper behind a Stimulator would work also.

I went the first Saturday in December and the first Saturday in January but I haven't caught the first smallmouth. Giving it a go tomorrow while the weather is warm.
