Yep, Both my wife and myself have one. She walks out here in the country early and I pushed her to get one. Myself, I never conceal except once in awhile on horseback. The only rason I got one was because I can. It is unheard of in NJ. I have a 44 Mag and it's a little tough to conceal.
Greg, as a sheriff I think you would already hae one. You are a sheriff aren't you?

I will be getting mine soon, had to wait for minor discretion that occurred 3 years ago when I was young and stupid...  very easy to get in VA though. |

I am thinking about it. I just got a little browning Buckmark for plinking and fun stuff like that. I won’t be trying to conceal it on me but need to look into the laws as far as transporting it in my truck. What about in a Kayak? Do any of you take yours fishing with you? I plan on doing some overnights with my fishing kayak this summer and was thinking about having that little 22 with me for the camping. Thoughts?

No Phil im not a sherriff. I work at krogers lol. Wv is a open carry state, which means i can carry as long as i dont conceal. I have a pistol on me anytime i fish here in wv i just have it in the open. With the cwp Va honors it as Wv honors yours so i can legally conceal in va now, as you can here. Alot of times i park my truck and my dad drops me off and i fish backdown to my truck. I did this last fall and there was a mercedes with new york plates with three guys parked at the ramp. I knew instantly they were running drugs and were waiting for some one to pick them up. Dont know what would have happened if they were in the middle of the exchange.

Porter i dont know much about the laws in Va, so i cant help you much maybe one of the va guys will help you out. If i were going to carry for personal protection i would get a heavier load then a 22. I carry a taurus pt709 in 9mm but have been looking at a berreta storm 40 sub compact. I have never needed my pistol but would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Plus rabies are bad here every summer, i see coons all the time along the river that act sick.
