Tony, from the facebook page is wanting to put together some tournaments in Sw Va? How many of you guys would be interested in this. I would love to fish and help, but do not have the time to do all the putting everything together. I know the one that back country does, always has a great turnout, and so do most of the others that I have fished. Usually the ones with camping and hanging out before and after are a blast no matter how you finish in the tournament. Just curious how many would also like to see some around here.

I'd like to see some more kayak tournament in the area. I might not be able to make them all due to scheduling but would definitely be interested in fishing a couple.

Getting into tournaments is definitely something I've wanted to do for a while but my work schedule makes it tough since most are on Friday/Saturday but I'm only off Sundays.

I'm interested. Hopefully I will be doing several of the Riverbassin tournaments, but would like to do more. I'm a high school teacher, so I have more free time in the summer.

I would definitely be interested in some tournaments, and would be willing to possibly help out with organizing the events.

I invited him to join the site, and make him an administrator of both here and the facebook one. I would love to try to put a few together, but do not have time to do it right now. I haven't hardly seen the water this year!

Anyone have any ideas, suggestions, I would like to do one in late May if possible, I thought maybe Gatewood Park, for the first one. Big bass should be shallow by then, and since its the first one, I would like to see it not get postponed or no one show up due to water levels in the river. Like the one Wes tried to put on last year.
Any suggestions>

How many are we looking to do? If we tried for 4 we could do 2 river and 2 lake tournaments. Make each one a different body of water. So for the river ones Maybe 1 on the New and one on the James. And for lakes maybe phillpot and SML? I like the idea of space in them around so everyone is so spread out not one group is having to travel farther than the others to every tournament and not one person has an upper hand fishing all the tournaments on their home water.

I would be interested in helping out. I am actually the tournament director for the Smith mountain striper club so have some experience with tournaments.

Hey guys sorry just getting on here, April and May are super busy months for me. Chasing gobblers is top priority. With that said Ive been talking to several peeps about having a small tournament trial for this area. Some of the guys Ive talked to have canoes. whats everyones opinion on allowing canoes.
i talked to the manager at gatewood he was all for is having a tournament there. So maybe the ones who can help we can meet one afternoon to iron out some details.

I am up for 4 or 5, I agree that there should be river and lakes, I can't figure out fish on lakes! I am up for the James and New. I have never been on Phillpot, but would be up for it. I don't have fond memories of sml, but fish it, I think in the fall would be the safest bet for a weekend tournament though, I'd say after labor day the boat traffic drops quickly. I also want to do Gatewood. If we can catch it right during the spring, there are some nice fish up there, and it would give some of the people from further southwest a shorter drive on that one. Lets get one planned!

I have no problems with Canoes, as long as they don't have trolling motors, If there are 2 people in the Canoe, then they both must be fishing in the toutnament. Those are my thoughts

I agree with Uncross on the canoe issue. If we are going to get one going in the near future we should probably get going on the planning. Several things would need to get ironed out.
