I'm thinking about adding STS to the bow of my yak to give my lab some traction so that he can ride up front when he floats with me. I have a 12' solo canoe thats too small for the both of us and two kayaks that he WILL NOT get on because he cant get any traction with his feet. If he goes with me I have to borrow my brother's 15' canoe which is pretty inconvenient since we live about 40 mi apart. Will the STS be tuff enough to hold up under my 80lb labs claws?

Although I haven't had long term experience with dogs and my kayaks, my sister's golden retriever has been in my commander close to 20times and I haven't noticed any tears/damage. The stuff holds up very well to the sun and normal wear and tear; it definitely provides extra traction when the hull gets wet.

I will give it a try. I think that it would be better than skateboard tape. My buddy takes his lab ( the mother of my dog) on his tarpon alot. They even duck hunt from it in the winter. But my pooch wont even walk on the tile in my kitchen! Whenever i paddle with the fam I dont fish much and Reed sure loves the river. The entertainment is priceless! Thanx.
