Does anyone have experience on the Shenandoah South Fork, near Luray, VA??? My dad is wanting to camp there in a few weeks and fish for a couple days. I've looked at Google Earth and don't really see a lot of public access in that area. Where is a good place to launch/takeout/fish near Luray?

I have never fished it, but had a biologist tell me that there are some nice muskies around Luray on the doah.
Phil I think kbf has almost died, there may be 1 or 2 posts on there a day now.
If you go on kbf message oubassman I believe his name is Doug, seems like a great guy pretty sure he fishes up there

I have done the Luray to Bentonville float and it was probably the best float I have ever done. We did it over 3 days with just a short paddle on the 3rd day. There is plenty of camping and it is easy to find because every mile of the river is marked which I thought was really neat. Here is a really good map of the float and here are the pics from our trip.

I have never done a multiday camping trip on the doah but I fish it almost exclusively in the summer. Really any float you choose will have a wide variety of water depth and speed. Almost all of the rapids have some really nice eddies and between the rapids are ledges. I caught my pb smallie on the float from Misty meadow rd to Shenandoah national park last summer on topwater.

Yes, thanks Jeff, the guy you want to talk to is Doug. (outbassman) I couldn't think of his name. He will definitely help you out.

June would be interesting the outfitter that shuttled us told us in the summer the tubing companies launch hundreds of tubers at once that clog up the river. We could play demolition derby with them and see how many we can take out
