Howdy! My name is Scott. Been fishing the New River since I moved East from California a little over a year ago. Before moving, I had never fished from a kayak, or for bass. I had only fished for trout, and mostly on the fly.
While I still enjoy a little fly fishing up in the creeks, I spend most days spinning for bass in my Wilderness Systems Tarpon 100 on the New River.
I live only 4 miles from Eggleston, and regularly fish Big Falls, Eggleston, Pembroke, and Ripplemead. Occasionally I'll do a day trip all the way down to Bluff City. So far, I have fished the New from Whitethorne to Rich Creek.
I'm interested in fishing areas that I've never been to, and always up for showing my regular spots to anyone who's interested . Look forward to participating in this forum, and hope to meet some of y'all soon. Scott

Welcome aboard Scott. We will have to meet up and fly fish for some smallies without the boats one day. I've been doing it all summer and having a blast

Welcome aboard Scott. We will have to meet up and fly fish for some smallies without the boats one day. I've been doing it all summer and having a blast That would be awesome. I think that's the main reason I haven't tried for smallies on the fly yet, because I'm a little intimidated about dealing with the flyline in the kayak.

I'm not confident to fly out of a yak or canoe yet. We can figure out a day in the next few weeks maybe.
