Just retired as of the end of Dec. and live on the South Fork of the New River. Plan to do a lot of fishing up and down the river, and the coast.

Welcome aboard. Lots of knowledge about the New and other surrounding waters on here. I've been wanting to get down to the NC side of the river and haven't been able to yet.

Welcome aboard, My dad just retired from Piney Creek School last year. He worked 30 some years at Galax, retired and went back to work for 6 or 7 years at Piney Creek. I believe he worked part time there last year. I use to fish some from one of the teachers lots down near the state park. Glad to have you on the site.

Today temp high was 29 F. So just thought of things I want to do to get ready for the coming fishing. I ordered some items to install on my Jackson Cuda and my wife's kayak to give us more stability when standing to cast or looking down the river. Wife's kayak is a Old Town Vapor 10 ft. My best catch in my section of the South Fork of the New River was a 6.5 lb. small mouth that was 29 inches from jaw end to tip of tail. Caught him in a hole about 6 ft. deep with a live spring lizard with a six lb. test and a size 4 hook with no weight.
