Janna and I took the dog down to River Rd. on Friday to check out the river after the 21.5' high water had subsided. Much to our surprise, the road is completely blocked a mile past the put in location by a huge mas of debris. We climbed over it and walked around the corner to get a glimpse of the campground on the opposite bank. Unfortunately, a couple of trailers didn't fair to well, nor did someone's dock. The high water can really be understood when you look at the debris in the tree branches. This picture is at the Eggleston put in. A mile up the road from the put in we came upon this junk... This picture shows how stripped the road bed is, and just how high the water really was. Two travel trailers were washed downstream, one of which was utterly destroyed. This little feller didn't make it... I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the impact of all this water really is on our fishery.

Wow some scary stuff. The fishery will be fine maybe some more cover to fish.

Wow some scary stuff. The fishery will be fine maybe some more cover to fish. That's what I'm hoping for. It will be interesting to get out on the water again and see just how much the cover has changed.

;D Post # 100 ! C'mon...someone give me some exaltation! Or even smite me...I think I'm the only one who has used the little karma button so far. (I just gave Greg some Karma for his 100th post as well. We're now fully vested as "Full Members")

thanks for your contributions! all of you. I;ve been so busy, hadn't had time to do anything on here or the facebook page. Bought some do-it molds about 3 weeks ago and haven't even gotten the plastic off of them yet.
Wonder what kinds of structer or trash will be hung up in the ripple, rapids and shoals. Might want to be very cautious on floats for a while.

With all the gates open on all the dams, I wonder if we have any walleye down here now?

Wow! That's incredible; it's very cool to see the power of the river. It gives me so much more respect for the river after seeing what it can do to trees and trailers with ease! Hope this kind of hits home a bit, and reminds us to respect the river and never go without a lifejacket. *Steps off Soapbox*

... Hope this kind of hits home a bit, and reminds us to respect the river and never go without a lifejacket. *Steps off Soapbox* Don't ever step off of that soapbox. Like Jeff said, there is probably all kinds of unseen danger right now, but the river should always command our respect! Lifejacket all the time for me. I used to ride motorcycles in the desert, and we had a saying, ATGATT.... All The Gear, All The Time. Accidents happen when you least expect.

The indians called the new, the river of death. We have 8 to 10 drownings every summer here in wv, people just dont have a clue to how dangerous the river really is.
