I am starting a new job on April 15th in Roanoke and will be moving there at the end of this month hopefully. It will make trips to New have to be more planned and I hope you guys will keep after me to get out. I also look forward to fishing Smith and Carvins Cove.
I plan to fish a few days in early April on the New while having some time off so hope to see some of you out on the water.

Congratulations on the new job! We'll always be here, at swvaka! Definitely get the scoop on Carvins Cove. Those reservoirs are always good fisheries. Best of luck with the new job.

I've fished Csarvins Cove several times. Found a little honey hole for crappie which was something I've never had any luck with. I usually pick up a couple of large mouth on every trip but never have done really well there. It does get a bit of pressure and then all the regulations. Your water craft must not have been in any other body of water for 30 days prior as they are afraid of zebra mussels and such. I'm not sure but I think you have to be a resident of Roanoke Co. too. Plus a small fee to fish there. On the bright side it is a very scenic lake and usually a lot of wildlife around the shoreline. Just a few of my thoughts on Carvins Cove. Don't mean to slam it, I would go there again.
