I live in Moneta about 2 miles from Smith Mt. Lake, but I do most of my fishing elsewhere. I love to go to Leesville Lake due to the remoteness and the boat traffic is non-existant. I have a Hobie Outfitter tandem kayak that I share with my girlfriend, Jo. We also have started to make trips to the saltwater to explore the inlets and bays. I teach school in Bedford county and will also do summer school, but have Friday and the weekend off. We plan to do numerous 3 day trips and I hope to gain the vast knowledge you have to help me in the new areas we go. Thanks in advance and if there is anything I can do for you just let me know.

Welcome aboard from the west side. I have fished smith mountain quite a bit but from a bass boat. Just got back from a week at buggs island. I agree with you 100% the boat traffic at sml is bad.

Welcome to the site! I use to be a game warden, and worked Leesville Lake almost every weekend. Only fished it a time or two. People use to catch some walleye at night right below the dam in the Staunton Rive. The New above Claytor lake is also an excellent Walleye fishery.

Congrats on the wally!
You'd think that with me living with a couple of miles of philpott I would have already caught one of these guys!
Uncross...I used to work the county just south of you.
