My wife , Debbie and I have just started Kayak fishing and are very excited about hitting the creeks, rivers, small lakes in the area. We hope to go to Briery Creek Lake next weekend in Farmville and fish for Largemouth. Anybody fished there with any advice? We hope to find a camping spot and fish, relax all weekend.

Welcome aboard. I haven't been out that way since beginning of April so not sure what the water temps or conditions are right now. But if it's like SML at the moment it's a mix bag of fish on beds and hanging around structure. I always take a Shakey head with me and some senko's along with a bunch of other stuff. But when it comes to lakes I tend to take a wide variety of rods and tackle to cover my basis.

Welcome to the site Pete, I'm in Christiansburg also. I fish Sandy River a lot more than I do Briery when I am out there. Both are really good fisheries! I like senko's, swim baits rubber worms and tubes or a jig. Others may have other suggestions. I know people have luck with top water up there, I never have. Let us know how you do.
