Hey, don't think I ever introduced myself here. I just moved to Christiansburg last Friday. Just finished school in Birmingham and loving the NRV so far, but I have a fever for some kayak fishing. Actually have not purchased a kayak yet, but doing my research and trying a few out.
Grew up in Eastern NC and SC and have been fishing my whole life but only kayak fishing over the last 6 months or so and I love it. Anybody that needs a partner (particularly on Wed or Sundays) I'm always interested in going. Realize I have a lot to learn about the area and the rivers but working on it. Love moving to new areas and figuring it out. Makes it more fun to me.
Awesome that there is a board like this for local fishing.
Thanks,
Jay

Well, welcome to the board Jay. I usually hit the New every weekend and love to take newbies out. I just got off the river myself. I usually try to fish on Sat. but will hit the river on Sun. sometimes. I also have an extra kayak. Give me a call on the landline and we can set something up. 540 384 6711. Phil

Welcome to the site Jay. A wealth of info from guys on here. Don't be afraid to ask any questions. I'm sure someone on here will be able to answer them.

Welcome Jay! I'm just down the road from you next to the Tech Airport. I'm pretty flexible in the evenings, but weekends tend to be tougher during football season But gimmie a shout, even if it's short notice, and I'll see what I can do. And if you ever need a kayak to borrow until you get one, or if you wanted to try out a commander 120, let me know. I'd be more than happy to take you out and share my little knowledge of the river

Thanks for the warm welcome yall. Loving the NRV so far. Good folks around here. Big thanks to Jeff and Tyler for taking me out this weekend. I got baptised by the New River (rolled my kayak and lost a rod), but had a blast. Great time.
Phil, thank you for the invitation. I'll definitely get in touch soon. My schedule is a little hairy this week (first week on the job), but I'm always interested in going.
Thanks again,
Jay

Good job Jeff and Tyler. Sounds like we have another kayak junkie in the valley. And like BigD said, try as many as you can until you find the perfect match for your needs.

Enjoyed it Jay. I will probably head to the river sometime Saturday afternoon for a while, weather permitting. I should have told you to put the seat down, before the rapids, but didn't really know how bad they were. Don't ever be ashamed to paddle to the bank and portage around anywhere you don't feel comfortable paddling through. I do that a lot of times when possible.

Hey Jeff, that sounds great. I'd love to go. I should be good to go anytime after 1:00. I'll touch base with you tomorrow.
