If things work out and I don't go out of town this weekend I should be able to do either float. I would like to meet some of the people on this web site. I saw a few of you at the new river tournament back in July.

If NOAA is right and the rivers are blown out come this weekend I wouldn't mind meeting at Gatewood. I haven't fished it this year and have kept meaning to. It's always been good for me this time of year and it's pretty close to in the middle for everybody.

Depending on how much rain we get the new may be fishable on Saturday or Sunday. I don't want to go through anything rough though if the water is up

The New and Gatewood is a 2 hour drive for me. Not sure I am going to be to driving that far to fish after having to be up and at work all of Friday night.

I was hoping to fish the James sometime this year, but if we get the rain they are calling for I'm not sure it will be possible. The new will probably be up also.

I certainly would like to. Just saw the weather forecast. They are calling for gusty winds. Just great!!!! I hate the wind and I know I'm not alone on that one. I have fished Gatewood when it was windy and it sucked. I was forced to limit my fishing to protected coves. Not sure what I'm gonna do at this point.

Phil, mnost all the little lakes I know of are pretty well exposed to the wind but there's a 55 acre lake on the NC state line just a few minutes off US 52 that I've been wanting to try out for years and it might be a little more sheltered than anything else and a good bit warmer down that way too so I might end up going there if nobody's going to get together.

I am still waiting to see how the water and wind look tomorrow. Right now the wind looks bad. Heath, I haven't fished Lovill's in 10-15 years, use to be full of small bass, don't really remember how protected it was from the wind or not, Its always a few degrees warmers below the mountain than it is up here though.

Mark where on SML are thinking about fishing. I was thinking on putting in either at Scruggs or crafts church.

Jeff, if I remember right it was a really windy day when I stopped by there on my way back from Mount Airy a couple years ago and the lake didn't look like it was getting hit too hard. I've been wanting to go for the pickerel or pike that I saw from the boat ramp. There had to be 5 or 6 that I could see in the clear water that day and then maybe try to bring some shellcrackers or crappie home for supper.
