A few of you all might remember a float earlier last year where my buddy Joe came along.Well he is a accomplished artist that spends his winter months on the Florida art show circuit. He just placed a award at the Okeechobee Art show, and has allways wanted to fish that lake. While he was there he was bound to full fill his dream. He set out in his kayak and paddled a mile, found a perfect spot and started to cast for a once in a lifetime bass. Well he got more than he bargained for, a huge alligator came out of the water and grabbed his kayak right beside the seat. He fended off the gator with his paddle aiming for its eyes and it let go, but followed him another 25yards. Putting him in high gear, paddling back to the ramp where he packed up for the day. Good thing there are scuppler holes, makes clean out a lot easier. I told him those green camo coosas draw attention. LOL No bodily harm and just a few scratches on the kayak with no punchers. I call that lucky.

That's crazy glad he was ok. It may be cold here in west by god, but at least we don't have gators and cottonmouths.

I remember Joe. Wow, he's a lucky man. They told us last year on Santee Cooper at the KBFOpen that the alligators would not mess with you in the water. Guess that was a lie. Maybe it thought the kayak was sexy and wanting to mate with it

Exactly what I was thinking Jeff. Glad I've got the urban camo instead of green.

Wow, that's closer than I'd ever want to get. Tell him to get it on video next time.

Maybe it thought the kayak was sexy and wanting to mate with it That's what I said, he was just wanting a little love. Joe did report it and Fish& Game told him it was rare but not unheard of. The old boy was probably thinking he was a bull trying to horn in on his territory. Any way it goes, he's got a good story about the time he fished Okeechobee. Phil I saw someone had caught that very thing on video and posted it on YouTube one time. I don't think there will be a next time with Joe.

I was floating from Ripplemead to Pearisburg with the CKanglers guys last year a mink climbed one of their anchor lines up on to the front of his kayak. No gator but was still pretty funny watching him freak out. LOL
