Hey all I have been approached by a tackle store in the bristol area that has just started selling kayaks. They are great people and I try to stop in there every chance I get. He is wanting to do a kayak tournament and wanting some of us to help run the tournament, which I am going to do. He would like to sponsor or club in return. date and body of water have not been determined. I think it's a good opportunity for us to grow and have a sponsor backing us in the future.
How many of you guys would be interested in going down there to help or to fish in the tournament?
He's hoping to get a good turnout and a good cash payout.

That sounds really good and great for the club Jeff. I'd be willing to fish the tourney's depending on where and when... I'll be out of town going to Chesapeake Bay 8/20 - 8/25

Let me ask a dumb question. What exactly do you mean that he would sponsor us? I don't know if we need sponsoring, what would the advantage be? I think it's kinda nice nice that it is a local kinda group and we get to know one another. If it starts getting too big I could see it getiing out of control. These are just my thoughts. My self I think it's getting pretty big already.

Yeah I'm not sure what being sponsored will do for us either but I'm sure Jeff can fill us in on that,,, but out of 241 listed members it seems like there are only about 30 maybe 40 that are serious about the site |

My self I think it's getting pretty big already. Not sure what the sponsoring would involve, it was something he brought up. I will help him with his tournament either way. I like everyone getting to know one another also, but I also would like to see members from other areas of Southwest VA. Nice to see what others are doing and get out and fish some new water. Who knows you might learn something from someone in another area that you can use here on the new. Also if it doesn't grow, it will eventually die off. Look at some of the other sites I used to check out all the time... kbf... hardly anything anymore. riverbassin nothing... kayakmilitia... gone... We have a few new guys on here and activity is the highest its been since the start. But look at all the ones that used to post back when it started... several or gone or do not come on here anymore. Thats just my thoughts anyways... I will always be glad to welcome anyone to the site... |

As long as I dont have to get a TN license Id be down for another tournament. I wouldnt worry too much about the site getting too big with concerns to how it effects the interactions of the close-knit core group. People are fickle creature and get bored easily so if there arent new folks chiming in some may stop checking in all together, not to mention its cool to hear about places you dont get to fish or have never heard of. If it wasnt for Harry and Ryan I probably wouldnt have fished Gatewood but now its on my list of places to hit at least yearly.
