I knew it was only a matter of time but I finely joined the turtle club. I lost 2 boxes of lures my net and hog trough, but worst of all I just bought a new baitcaster a lews speed spool LFS and a st Croix mojo bass rod on Wednesday and as of Friday it belongs to the river, not to mention my cell phone. I defiantly learned a hard and expensive lesson but this morning I woke up to an order conformation email from tackle warehouse, my wonderful wife had ordered me a new rod and reel. I guess she hated seeing how devastated I was to loose it witch she didn't fully understand lol what can I say I really liked that set up. But all in all I didn't get hurt other than my pride and my wallet, but believe me there will be leashes on everything from now on.

Sorry to hear. Is it some where you can go back and drag a jig or something in the area or downstream. Buy you some blakemore rod floats,it's the best in vestments you can buy for ka yak fishing.

Sorry to hear. I've been fishing in a kayak for 6 years, it got me a couple of weeks ago. Low water will get you ever time.

Heard of several turtles, over the weekend. I feel for you. I second the rod floats. There aggravating but can save you some heartache, I also like the boxes with gasket seals.

I recommend the rod floats to, just make sure you get the bigger size ones. Got mine from basspro. Yes the first couple of trips they will be aggravating but after that you want pat any attention to them. Best $10 insurance you will get for your rods, saved mine a couple of times.

How does the rod floats work on a baitcaster with the line being closer to the rod vs a spinning reel.

But I didn't know that there were different sizes. I got mine from Dicks, they work great

I use the smaller ones, even on my musky rods and they float them. As for on a baitcaster, I use a float on my Falcon Bucoo when micro guides and it still doesn't interfere.

I am going to tape my on, where the velcro is. My velcro is starting to curl up and catch the line at times

I got the small ones from Amazon. They float my duckets fine. First hand from a couple Saturdays ago. They work with micro eyes.

Bass pro is where i got mine they have 6" and 8" in packs of 3. Wish they made them in packs of 3 either in yellow or orange, kinda hard to see the black ones from a distance.

Ouch, that sucks David. I have turtled more times than I want to tell but have learned over the last couple of years to leash it up. I made my leashes out of weedeater string. Look it up on youtube, it's easy and cheap. I also made my rod floats out of 1/2 inch pipe insulation from Lowes and wrapped them with yellow electrical tape so they hug the rod closer and don't come in contact with the string. You have to cut some insulation out to make it tight but they work great. Have saved my fishing rods on several occasions. I don't care how cautious you are, the river will humble you from time to time.
