I'm thinking about going from mono to braid with a fluorocarbon leader on my spinning reels. How many of you all use this setup, is it worth the change I've done some research but I wanted the opinions of guys that fish from the same environment that I do, what type of line? leader length? Ect. Thanks

I pretty much have use braid on my reels for years. Just started using florocarbon leaders the last couple years, especially when it's crystal clear. not sure it's needed other than clear water, some swear it's makes a difference. I have found that some of the clear lakes like south holston it makes a huge difference. even better to stay just florocarbon or mono at times on those clear lakes.

I try a fluorocarbon leader on my bait caster and had a problem with the knot hanging in the eyes on the cast. The Falcon rod I have has small eyes tho... wouldn't cast mush past the yak with the knot hitting most of them... I had to go back to strait brad, might work well on some rods but not mine

I use high-vis braid with a flouro leader on most my rods now the high-vis helps a lot with hits on the fall that I never knew I was getting and weightless plastics when you can see The slightest sideways movement. I use Diawa Response rods with micro guides and have no issues with the knot hitting eyes, it's all about the knot,I use Uniknot to Uniknot and you have to trim the tag extremely close, which with braid is a challenge in itself without the right tool, good luck and "fish on"

I came across this video on Facebook last night and used it to tie my braid to the mono backing on one of my musky setups. It was easy to tie and very slim. Hopefully the strength of the knot never gets tested since that means I'm getting spooled but it's supposed to be the best connection you can have.

I have used 20 lb tuf-line braid with a 10 lb fluorocarbon leader for a couple of years now on my spinning reels. It has worked great for me with only 1 wind knot since I have been using braid. Back your reel with a couple of wraps of mono so the braid doesn't slip on the spool, reel the braid on as tight as you can get it on the spool and let it sit on the reel for 3 to 4 days before you use it. I also try to spool the braid on the reel in the same direction it comes off the spool to cut down on string memory. I use an albright knot to tie my leader, probably better knots available but it works well for me.

4 to 5 ft. You will feel it cast through your eyelets but it hasn't effected my casting distance.
